FIBER OPTIC PATCH PANELS

Foss FP-series front patch panels are made with the highest accuracy for precise fitting. All panels are tested according to both our own quality measures and international standards before they are sent to customers.

Patch Panels and ODFs: Organized Fiber Connectivity

In an FTTH network hub—whether a central office, local exchange, or data center—fiber patch panels provide a neat, reliable way to terminate and cross-connect fibers. When configured as full-scale rack systems, these are often called Optical Distribution Frames (ODFs). They act as the nerve center where incoming feeder cables, outgoing distribution cables, and active-equipment ports converge.

Each fiber from an outside-plant cable is terminated on the panel—typically via connector adapters—and then patched with short jumper or patch cables into an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) port or onto another fiber route. This flexible arrangement lets you rearrange connections, perform maintenance, or isolate faults without touching the primary cable runs.

Patch Panel Configurations:
  • Empty panels – ready for custom termination in the field.
  • Panels with adapters – unloaded frames pre-fitted with your choice of adapter types.
  • Panels with pre-terminated pigtails – adapter-ready panels with factory-installed pigtails.
  • Panels with pre-terminated pigtails and cable – a complete, factory-assembled solution including feeder or distribution cable.

FP PRO-SERIES PATCH PANEL

The FP PRO-series available in 1 U (FP60), 1.5 U (FP70) and 2 U (FP80) heights, each panel can be ordered empty or as one of three turnkey solutions—pre-loaded with specified adapters, with factory-installed pigtails, or as a complete pre-terminated cable assembly ready for splicing elsewhere.

Despite their compact 240 mm depth, FP PRO panels accommodate high port counts (up to 96 fibers in 1 U and 192 in 2 U). They support LC, SC, E2000, FC and ST and both single-mode (ITU-T G.657A1) and multimode (OM-1 through OM-4) fibre types, delivering typical insertion loss of just 0.25 dB and return loss ≥ 45 dB (PC) or ≥ 60 dB (APC).

To match any installation scenario, you can pair your panel with a range of cable constructions: tight-buffered FR-LSZH AXAI for office use, compact loose-tube QXAI HD for data rooms, indoor/outdoor QXXI or its slimmer QXXI Compact variant, rodent-protected QXAI RG, or micro-duct-ready QXXE Micro, all designed for reliable performance, fire safety and environmental resilience.

FPM-SERIES MODULES:
Modular Flexibility for Scalable Fiber Termination

The FPM76-series offers a truly modular approach to fiber panel design, combining compact size with easy expandability. Each FPM76 module holds up to 24 LC connectors, arranged as six quad adapters on a removable front plate and simply plugs into a 1U frame (three modules) or a 3U frame (twelve modules). Unused slots can be covered with blanking plates or replaced by dedicated storage units for excess fiber, keeping your rack neat and service-friendly.

With a per-module capacity of 24 LC ports, total frame capacity scales from 72 fibers in a 1U setup up to 288 fibers in 3U.

Each FPM76 module can be factory-configured with adapters, pigtails or pre-terminated cable, and supports a wide range of fiber types and connector. Standard pre-terminated options include LC/PC or LC/APC in single-mode (9/125 µm) or multimode (OM1–OM4), as well as specialized cables such as QXXI Slim, QXAI RG and QXXE Micro for indoor/outdoor or micro-duct installations. Double-slot modules are available for 48-fiber configurations, offering further density where space is at a premium.

By combining ready-to-install modules with versatile frame options and an extensive accessory range: cable guides, covers and label plates.

ACCESSORIES

Different blind plugs for use in the panels.

Installation sets for splicing pigtails to cable with tight buffer. May also be used for splicing with cable with loose tube.

In order to protect connectors and patch cords against accidental damage, a cover is available in bronze coloured plexi-glass.

A separate back plate may be mounted on the back of both 1U and 3U panels. This have two main functions, strain relief for the MPO-cables and enables extra cable length so the MPO modules may be taken out from the front.
