HARTING
– rugged connectors for industrial environments
HARTING is a leading global manufacturer of industrial connectivity solutions and is particularly well known for its Han® range of rugged, modular industrial connectors.
Foss uses HARTING components to manufacture complete fiber optic Han® solutions for industrial, offshore and other demanding environments. The connectors are assembled and terminated in our own production facilities, allowing cable type, fiber count, connector configuration and cable length to be adapted to the application.

HARTING Han® from Foss
Foss uses HARTING Han® components as the basis for rugged, pluggable fiber optic solutions.
A typical system consists of a pre-terminated cable with a Han® plug that connects to a panel-mounted or surface-mounted receptacle. On the inside of the installation, the connection can continue using standard fiber optic connectors.
The optical interface is based on standard SC connectors, and the system can be configured with different fiber counts depending on the application.
Assembly and termination are carried out at our production facility in Drammen, Norway.

Han® Standard
Han® Standard provides a rugged industrial connection for applications where a pluggable solution with good mechanical protection is required.
At Foss, this version is used for both temporary and permanent fiber optic connections in industrial installations.
The aluminium housing and locking system provide a robust connection while allowing equipment to be connected and disconnected efficiently.
Han® M
Han® M is designed for industrial applications with higher requirements for mechanical protection and environmental resistance.
The connector features a rugged aluminium housing and stainless-steel locking components and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.
Foss can supply Han® M as a complete pre-terminated cable assembly or as part of a panel or chassis solution adapted to the installation.
Han® HPR
Han® HPR is designed for particularly demanding environments where a high level of protection against water, dust and corrosion is required.
The HPR range features corrosion-resistant aluminium housings and robust locking mechanisms, making it particularly suitable for outdoor installations, offshore and marine environments, and other demanding industrial applications.
Foss can assemble complete Han® HPR solutions with the required cable type, fiber type and fiber count.
Complete pluggable fiber optic solutions
One of the key advantages of Han® is the ability to create a rugged, pre-terminated and pluggable connection.
This is particularly useful in applications where fiber splicing in the field is impractical or where equipment needs to be connected and disconnected regularly.

The rugged connector housing protects the fiber connection while allowing equipment to be installed, removed or replaced without having to re-terminate or splice the fiber.

Depending on the configuration, fiber and copper connections can be combined in a single interface. This can be particularly useful when both communication and electrical connections are required between the same equipment or modules.
