Rugged Fiber Optic Solutions for the
Defense and Industrial Sectors
When communication must work in the toughest environments, standard fiber solutions just won’t cut it. Foss delivers robust, Plug & Play fiber optic systems built to perform under extreme conditions—trusted in defense, offshore, and industrial applications.
Built for
Harsh Environments
In military and other demanding settings, fiber optics must handle far more than regular wear and tear. Our solutions are built to resist water, dust, extreme temperatures, and physical stress—ensuring reliable performance when it matters most.
With factory-configured Plug & Play systems, all fiber cables and connectors are assembled and tested by trained technicians. This means faster deployment, consistent quality, and fewer risks in the field.
Our Product Range
ProBeam – Expanded Beam Technology
ProBeam is an ultra-rugged connector designed for quick and reliable use—even by non-experts. Using expanded beam technology, it spreads the light beam through a ball lens, making it much more resistant to dirt and easier to clean without special tools. Available in 2 sizes for up to 4 or 8 fibers, ProBeam is ideal for military and other harsh environments. Delivered pre-terminated on OCC tactical cables, often supplied with our cable reels.
Cable Reels for Field Use
Our lightweight yet durable aluminum cable reels are ideal for mobile or temporary fiber installations. Available in 3 sizes (100, 250, or 500 meters), they include features like internal contact storage, brakes, foldable handles, and stackable design. Standard color is military green (RAL 6014), with custom colors on request.
IP-Series – Weather-Proof Fiber Connectors
The IP-Series uses standard LC or MPO connectors inside a rugged IP68-rated housing, offering dust and water protection. Perfect for outdoor and temporary setups such as antenna towers or container links. LC models support 2 fibers, while MPO versions handle 12 or 24 fibers. Fully ODVA compatible.
Harting HAN – High-Capacity Industrial Connectors
Designed for industrial use, the Harting Han supports up to 24 fibers per connector and can combine fiber and copper in hybrid versions. Ideal for system cables with chassis connections, it works well with AICI and QFCI cable types and comes in versions tailored to different environments.
Hawke Series – Fiber for Explosive Zones
The Hawke series is engineered for use in hazardous (ATEX) environments, complying with BS EN 60079-28 standards. Its nickel-plated connectors ensure reliable performance in explosive atmospheres. Available in single or multi-mode, the Hawke comes as a plug, receptacle, or bulkhead variant—each with a protective cap included.
