Foss passive splitters effortlessly distribute (or combine) an optical signal across multiple fibres, making them ideal for PON and other multi-fibre applications. Available in both PLC (Planar Lightwave Circuit) and FBT (Fused Biconical Taper) technologies, these splitters cover ratios from 1:2 up to 1:64. PLC splitters ensure uniform output power across all legs, while FBT splitters offer customizable, uneven splits (10/90, 20/80, 30/70, 40/60) when you need more power on one port.
Engineered for seamless integration, splitters can be factory-installed in any Foss panel or enclosure, whether it’s the modular FPM76 unit, the 1U panel, or the FPD76 DIN-mount wall box. They’re also supplied as standalone components or terminated with LC, SC (PC/APC), E2000 or other connector types to suit your workflow.
Despite their compact footprints (PLC bodies measure as little as 4 × 7 × 55 mm for 1:32 ratios), Foss splitters endure harsh environments with an operating range of –40 °C to +85 °C and minimal insertion loss, even when spanning 1260 – 1650 nm for PLC types or the key PON wavelengths (1310, 1490, 1550 nm) for FBT variants. Typical worst-case losses are as low as 4.2 dB for a 1:2 PLC splitter and under 21 dB for a 1:64 PLC splitter.
The modules are inserted in a 1U or 3U panel . The 3U panel may be populated with up to 12 modules, the 1U panel with up to 3 modules, and they may be placed in any order in the panel. This ensures a flexible and modular system with simple access to adding modules at a later stage and also offers high density with the panel fully equipped. Each module is delivered complete with splitters terminated in LC connectors at the front. The panel is intended for mounting in 19” racks. See separate data sheet for details about the modules.
This is a panel for mounting in 19” or metric racks. The panel may offer high density, but do not offer any good possibilities for later expansion within the same panel. Each panel is delivered complete with splitters terminated in SC or LC connectors at the front. See separate data sheet for details about the 1U panel.
The Splitters may also be delivered as separate components, installed on cassettes in one of our splice closures or installed in one of our wall boxes. They may be terminated with most connector types.
