SPLITTERS INSTALLED IN PANELS AND MODULES

A passive splitter distributes the optical signal to several fibres. The signal may be transmitted both way through the splitter and may therefore be used to combine signal into one fibre  (typically for PON).  

The splitters are based on 2 different technologies, PLC and FBT:
PLC-splitters (Planar Lightwave Circuit) distributes the signal equally all the outputs have split-ratio from 1:2 to 1:64.  
FBT-splitters (Fused Biconical Taper) are only delivered for 1:2 split where you want 2 outputs with uneven distribution of the signal-power (10-90%, 20-80%, 30-70%, 40-60%).  Both are based on reliable passive technology, but FBT gives wavelength dependant loss. 

The modules are inserted in a 1U or 3U panel . The 3U panel may be populated with up to 12 modules, the 1U panel with up to 3 modules, and they may be placed in any order in the panel. This ensures a flexible and modular system with simple access to adding modules at a later stage and also offers high density with the panel fully equipped. Each module is delivered complete with splitters terminated in LC connectors at the front. The panel is intended for mounting in 19” racks. See separate data sheet for details about the modules. 

This is a panel for mounting in 19” or metric racks. The panel may offer high density, but do not offer any good possibilities for later expansion within the same panel. Each panel is delivered complete with splitters terminated in SC or LC connectors at the front. See separate data sheet for details about the 1U panel. 

The Splitters may also be delivered as separate components, installed on cassettes in one of our splice closures or installed in one of our wall boxes. They may be terminated with most connector types.
