Foss develops, manufactures and assembles fiber optic and copper-based solutions for telecom, data centers, buildings, industry, offshore, defense and critical infrastructure.
With our own production facilities in Norway and Slovakia, we can supply both standard products and customized solutions, from individual products and prototypes to larger production runs.
All products are terminated, assembled, inspected and tested as part of the production process before delivery.
About Foss
Foss was established in 1984 and has combined in-house manufacturing with components and technology from specialized manufacturers since the beginning.
Today, Foss has around 130 employees in Norway and Slovakia and approximately 5,000 m² of production space. Our production is set up for both volume and flexibility, with the capacity to handle a high number of fiber optic terminations while still supporting smaller production runs, prototypes and individual products.
The combination of in-house manufacturing, technical expertise and cooperation with established technology suppliers enables us to develop and deliver complete solutions tailored to different installations and applications.
Products and Solutions from Foss
Fiber Optic Solutions
Fiber optics has been at the core of Foss since the company was established.
We manufacture and assemble products including:
- pre-terminated fiber optic cables
- patch cords and pigtails
- pre-terminated panels
- MPO/MTP solutions
- pre-terminated wall boxes and cabinets
- rugged fiber optic cable assemblies
- customized fiber optic solutions
With our own production, we can customize cable type, fiber type, fiber count, length, connector combinations, breakout, labeling and configuration according to project requirements.
Copper and Structured Cabling
Our production also includes copper and structured cabling.
We manufacture products including:
- pre-terminated CAT cables
- copper trunk cables
- customized cable assemblies and wire harnesses
Pre-terminated solutions make it possible to move more of the work from the installation site to a controlled production environment. Cable assemblies can be delivered fully configured and tested for the specific project.
Rugged Solutions for Harsh Environments
For industry, offshore, defense and other demanding environments, Foss manufactures and assembles rugged cable and connector solutions.
We work with connector systems and technologies including:

- 3M™ EBO
- D38999-based solutions
- HARTING Han
- rugged fiber optic and field cables
- customized cable assemblies and wire harnesses
Our production personnel are trained and experienced in the termination and assembly of several specialized connector systems.
Hybrid Solutions
Fiber optics, copper-based signals and power can be combined in the same solution when required. This makes it possible to develop customized cable assemblies where several technologies are integrated into a single connection.
These solutions can, for example, be based on rugged industrial connector systems and D38999-based solutions where fiber optic and electrical connections are combined.
Racks, Cabinets and Mechanical Products
Foss also has in-house mechanical production. We manufacture and customize racks, cabinets and mechanical components in plastic and aluminum.
Access to 3D printing, CNC machining and other mechanical production equipment allows us to develop components and prototypes when standard products do not meet the requirements.
From Component to Finished Solution
A Foss product does not necessarily mean that every individual component is manufactured by Foss. We work with specialized manufacturers of fiber, cable, ferrules, connectors and rugged connector systems. These components are used as building blocks in products that are configured and manufactured by Foss.
Depending on the product, the process may include:
component selection → customization → termination → assembly → inspection → testing → finished product
We use components and technology from manufacturers including SENKO, US Conec, Seikoh Giken, TE Connectivity, 3M, OCC, CommScope and other specialized suppliers.
In this way, Foss can combine technology from different manufacturers with our own manufacturing and system expertise. For the customer, this means the solution can be adapted to the application instead of being limited to a standard configuration.
Production in Norway and Slovakia
Foss has production facilities in both Norway and Slovakia. The two production environments share much of the same expertise, production equipment and capabilities, and manufacture largely the same types of products.
This gives us the flexibility to handle both customized solutions and series production across our production facilities.
In Norway, Foss has production in Drammen and Lillesand. In Slovakia, Foss Fibre Optics has production in Bratislava.
Lillesand also has production capabilities within structured copper cabling and mechanical products.
For our customers, this means access to a European manufacturer with expertise in fiber optics, copper, mechanical production and specialized cable and connector solutions.
