Training at 3M:
Expanded Beam Optical 3M™ EBO Connector

Members of the Foss Fiber Optics team in Slovakia recently participated in specialized training at 3M, focused on the Expanded Beam Optical 3M™ EBO Optical Interconnect solution. The training gives Foss the competence to assemble and deliver these advanced connectors directly from our own production.

As part of our ongoing commitment to technical expertise and product quality, a team from Foss attended hands-on training hosted by 3M, focusing on the Expanded Beam Optical 3M™ EBO Connector and EBO-MPXX Push-Pull Connector technology. The training provided in-depth knowledge of connector assembly, handling procedures, and quality control requirements, enabling Foss to integrate this solution into our production and service offering.

The 3M™ EBO Connector is designed for environments where traditional fiber optic connectors may be vulnerable to contamination, vibration, or repeated mating cycles. Instead of direct physical contact between fiber end faces, the connector uses expanded beam technology, where the optical signal is expanded and collimated through lenses before transmission. This design significantly reduces sensitivity to dust, dirt, and mechanical wear, making it particularly well suited for demanding applications.

By completing this training, our production team is now fully equipped to assemble and supply 3M™ EBO Connector series solutions, offering customers reliable fiber optic connectivity designed for the most demanding operational environments.
